Corner TV Stand

Along with adding board and batten and painting the basement, there were a couple other updates done to our basement, one of which was replacing our television stand. The previous TV stand worked great in our apartment in Milwaukee, but in our basement here the only good spot for our thick TV is in the corner. It was a bit of a mess with cords showing and taking up more space than needed. So I'd been keeping my eye out for a corner TV stand but everything I was finding was $100+, more than I was willing to spend. So when I found a solid wood corner stand for $60.00 I was sold.

Here is the before:

I decided to go with a two-tone finish with wood top and painted base so that if, or more like when, I'm ready to change the color on the stand it will be easier to repaint without having to move our monster television.

So I sanded the top down to bare wood and stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut. I then sealed it with Minwax Polyacrylic.

I then lightly sanded, primed and painted the base with Valspar in Quill.

I love how nice it tucks into the corner. It make the room feel quite a bit roomier.

I also made a couple smaller knot knobs for the handles.

I've been so happy with the switch. It has made such a difference to the room.

  4. You can pick to order one which will kind comments your room decor. Television stalls are without difficulty available at several electro-mechanical outlets.

  5. That transformation looks wonderful!! I'm trying to do the same as you - go from using what works to having something that works and looks more 'put together'. My home is filled with so many 'make do' solutions. I can't wait til I can get it all somewhat tied together and uniform looking :)
