The exterior needed to get refreshed. Instead of replacing the shutters I spray painted them black, and painted our door a very very dark blue. You can also find the wreath tutorial here.

We pulled up carpet on the stairs and replaced it with wood stair treads. The vinyl flooring on the landing was replaced with laminate flooring. We also refinished the banister and added board and batten. In order to add contrast we decided to paint the doors. To top it off, we made a bench to add seating and additional storage.

Kitchen Updated:
We extended the molding to the cabinets and painted them white. I later added wood trim to the kitchen island. I also refinished the kitchen table, chairs and bar stools.

ReplyDeleteHi there..your house is beautiful. I was wondering what color/name of paint did you use on your cabinets in the kitchen. Hoping this summer to paints ours but am having a hard time picking out a white. Sounds funny but I never knew there was so many whites..not wanting too bright. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteHello there :) I wandered over from Pinterest and was wondering how you get your lightweight rugs to stay put on your carpet? Your house is so lovely and I love your style!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI adore what you've done with your basement! Where do you get your gray curtains? I've been looking all over for ones like yours!
I found your blog on pinterest of course! I have a split as well and I HATE the layout...exact same as yours except we have a bay window instead of a walkout. I like how you made the basement seem part of the home instead of a basement :) I'm bookmarking your blog for the future :)
ReplyDeleteCould you share all your paint colors please?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all your projects! I also have a split-level home with light oak trim and the dreadful exterior wall ledges in the basement. I am hoping to tackle a few of your projects within my home to make it look more updated and fresh! GREAT WORK!
